On Thursday, authorities found a missing Tennessee teen and arrested her adoptive father. Authorities have charged the father of the teen in connection to her disappearance, as per reports.
The 14-year-old was reported missing earlier this month and was later located in Wisconsin, Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones told the media.
“A 14-year-old girl, who disappeared from Tennessee, has been found alive in a residence in Wisconsin. Girl’s adopted father has been arrested and charged with rape”, Sheriff Tommy Jones of Monroe County, Tennessee, said.
On Thursday, the officials arrested Randall Pruitt, adoptive father of the teen, and charged him with rape. The sheriff while interacting with the media reported that it is still unclear if Pruitt has a criminal history.
There have been reports that the teenager was “fleeing from a bad home situation,” and she was last seen at her home in Madisonville on Jan. 13 before she disappeared. Following her disappearance, the teen’s mobile phone was tracked 139 miles away in Corbin, Kentucky, according to the reports.
When reporters asked Jones about the details of the incident, the Sheriff said that officials are investigating the case and at present, the reason behind the disappearance of the teen and why she was located in Wisconsin is not apparent.
Sheriff Tommy Jones during the press conference told the reporters that the family just relocated from Georgia, so it was new to the Monroe County area. Jones while interacting with the news channels also reported that the teen was located in good health from Wisconsin and she is now safe in custody.
Local sources say that adoptive father of the teen who has been arrested and charged with rape is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 5, 2019.
