Dark is the German science fiction Netflix series about multiple timelines and time travel. It was the first German-language series which premiered on Netflix in December 2017. Baran bo Odor and JantjeFriese are the Creators of the Series. Netflix marketed it as German ‘Stranger Things’. This marketing strategy led to a rapid increase in the show’s viewership due to the craze of stranger things in the USA. Despite similar beginning story points, the show was drastically different from stranger things. Dark is more of a science fiction thriller with paradoxes and philosophical questions about humanity. The show gained massive popularity among the audience in the united states and soon enough became an international hit.
Release Date: Dark Season 3
Release date of dark season 3 was announced on May 26 when Netflix released a trailer of the new season. Netflix set the release date of season 3 on June 27 2020. The news of season 3 first came about even before the release of the second season in May 2019. At the same time, information of season 3 being the final season of the show also came out. This announcement shows that the creators were clear about the direction of the story from the start. We think this is why the show was able to deliver a satisfying ending despite having a convoluted plot. The timeline was also apparent as show released according to plan without having any delays despite the COVID situation.
Cast: Dark Season 3
Most of the series regulars reprised their roles for an iconic ending off season 3. These include Louis Hofmann as teen Jonas, Jordis Triebel as Katharina, Lisa Vicari as Martha, Mark Waschke as Noah, Andreas Pietschmann as older Jonas. New members also joined the cast such as Barbara Nusse and Axel Werner. We also saw more of Peter Doppler (Stephan Kampwirth) and Regina Tiedemann (Deborah Kaufmann).
Plot: Dark Season 3
The plot of the show is complicated to understand especially for those who haven’t seen the first two seasons. But for the fans of the show, it was the ultimate payoff as they got answers to question they have been asking since season 1. Season 3 of dark took a page out of dark season 2 playbook and introduced a new parallel universe, a parallel Winden, one still plagued by time loops, but in which Jonas, our hero, does not exist. Spoilers!! We also got to know that these parallel universes were created by HG Tanenhaus accidentally, while he was trying to invent the machine that could save his family in the past. So our heroes go to the point of original fracture to protect all our favourite characters. They prevent the apocalypse and sacrifice themselves in doing so. They get stuck in some place Beyond space and time.
Storyline: Dark Series
Dark is a mystery and thriller series. Set in an old German town of Widen, the story begins when some children from the city start disappearing. These events bring to light the fragile relationship townspeople share among themselves. We also discover that the cave system of the town has a Wormhole which people use to travel back n forth in time. This time travel by your characters creates multiple timeline and paradoxes. These characters go back in time and meet their selves in the past or their ancestors.
