Online video games always consist of numerous updates with new features, characters, and any changes in the patch or bugs. Apex Legends, developed by Respawn Entertainment studio, also falls in the category of such games only. Until now, the game has released six seasons. A season runs for one week, and the sixth season came on August 18, 2020.
The studio made a new announcement regarding the addition of a new beta version feature with the release of Nintendo Switch. Recently, Respawn Entertainment has also announced the official release date as to when it will be available. Let’s know everything about Apex Legends and the new feature in detail below.
About the Game: Apex Legends
Apex Legends originally came in February of 2019 and is a first-person shooter battle royale multiplayer game. It is available for playing on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and coming soon in Nintendo Switch. The game is freely available for anyone to download and play but consists of in-game transactions. Each match consists of twenty teams, and each team has three players, known as characters in the game. There are fourteen playable characters from which a team can select for representing themselves in the games. Apex Legends also introduced since the release of the game alternative modes of playing the game.
Cross-Platform Play: Apex Legends
Respawn Entertainment confirmed that on October 1, Thursday, Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One would soon get a cross-platform play. The cross-play’s beta test will go live on the available platforms on October 6 and start a new time-limited mode, called Flashpoint and Aftermarket Collection Event. Respawn said that the feature would get enable by default, but players can choose to opt-out from the same. However, the studio also mentioned that the players disabling out of the feature has a risk of making their queue times very long as they will get matched only against each other.
Now, the players can add friends and play with the other platform’s players, and the platform used for playing will get indicated in the friend’s list of all the players. Cross-platform parties can also use the in-game chat, but the beta will not consist of the cross-platform progression. However, there are chances of it coming in the future after the launch of the Steam version of Apex Legends. Apex Legends will go live on Steam later this year with the support of cross-platform play. There was no mention in the announcement of the Nintendo Switch will have a cross-platform play or not.
Cross-Platform Play Working: Apex Legends
Apex Legends cross-play implementation will matchmaker the consoles’ players with the consoles or PCs with PCs. But, players will get put into PC servers if PC players, Console players and, Xbox One players team up together. This way, it intends to make the game a fair play for everyone and keep the consoles players out of the mouse and keyboard crowd. Director Chad Grenier also said that the cross-play had been the most demanded feature since its release. The players wanted to play the game with their friends from other platforms, and finally, it is releasing.
