About: The Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers, founded officially in 1971, are an Edmonton-based professional ice hockey team. The team participates in the National Hockey League, or NHL, as a subsidiary of the Western Conference’s Pacific Division. W.D.’Wild Bill’ Hunter and Dr.Chuck Allard created the Oilers. In 1972, the team competed in its first season, as a member of the founding franchises of the World Hockey Association (WHA). The Oilers were initially one part of two WHA Alberta teams, in association with the Calgary Broncos. Nevertheless, with the relocation of the latter to Cleveland, in Ohio, the Oilers changed their name to the Alberta Oilers. They joined the NHL in 1979 and consequently won the Stanley Cup in five seasons.
The Edmonton Oilers have secured the drafting of 12 first-round selections, since the year 2007. As such, in the history of NHL Entry Draft, the Oilers chose Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Nail Yakupov and Connor McDavid. At the current moment, only Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins are still with the Oilers.
Regarding: Dylan Holloway
Dylan Holloway is a 6-foot 1-inch, 205-pound power forward who recently completed his first year from the University of Wisconsin. Holloway is a 19-year-old prospect whose skating skills and hardiness have proved him to be the best of the bunch. The forward has played both in the left-wing and the centre positions. Holloway’s toughness, in addition to his skill, makes him a crucial player for the NHL. Also, Dylan has an outstanding accuracy with the puck and is an elite NCAA player selected for 2020’s NHL Draft as well.
Additionally, in his rookie season, Holloway had acquired 17 points for the Wisconsin Badgers NCAA-Division 1. Furthermore, Dylan had also played ice hockey internationally. He had played for Canada at the World U-17 as well as U-18 tournaments.
2020 NHL Draft: The Edmonton Oilers
Commissioner Gary Bettman of the 2020 NHL Draft stated that the latest target date to commence the 2020-21 season was January 1. Ken Holland, the general manager of the Oilers, declared that Dylan Holloway would be the 14th overall selection. The second round of the NHL Draft will ensue on October 7, 2020. As such, the Oilers must consent on whether they will send the 76th overall pick to Calgary for completion of the James Neal-Milan Lucic trade. Holland drafted Dylan with the 14th pick, with expectations of him being McDavid or Leon Draisatl‘s left-wing someday.
The Edmonton Oilers have drafted Holloway as the second such player from the Wisconsin program. Priorly, they had selected Brad Winchester in the second round, overall number 35. Kevin Lowe, the general manager, and Kevin Prendergast, the scouting director, drafted him in 2000.
