When it comes to sports, the entire Indian subcontinent follows one international sport with pure dedication. That sport is cricket. But even with what the world is going through right now with the Corona pandemic, the cricket fever is still on. While India is hosting Indian Premier League’s 13th edition, other teams on the subcontinent are also keeping up with a busy schedule. India and Sri Lanka played a T20i series in January 2020. But after that, both teams have not played any international games.
International cricket has been a cold affair during the lockdown months, but one team that hasn’t let off the gas is Pakistan. The International cricket team of Pakistan has played over ten international games this year including T20is and ODI matches. The team has already played against England and Bangladesh in t20 games, during the August and October months. They are currently facing Zimbabwe in a series of three One Day international matches. This series is Pakistan’s second series on home turf after they defeated Bangladesh in the start of 2020. Any cricket fan will be happy to see that Internationa cricket is returning to Pakistan after a long gap. Today we will take a look at the upcoming match, i.e. 3rd ODI between Zimbabwe vs Pakistan and see which team has the upper hand.
Pakistan vs Zimbabwe ODI series:
It is true that when it comes to international cricket, one of these two teams is better than the other. Zimbabwe has struggled with international cricket for a while. There were controversies regarding the team not getting paid for a period. But other than that they have also fallen behind teams like Afghanistan which are relatively new to the game. On the other hand, Pakistan is coming into this series with a dominant win against Bangladesh. Their performance against England was also admirable. So they will look to sweep the series 3-0.
Predictably that’s how the series is taking shape as well. Pakistan has won the first two games in the series handily one with 26 runs and other with six wickets. The team will try to wipe out the opposition with a substantial batting order. That’s why Pakistan has brought in young blood in the form of Khushdil Shah. The 25-year-old debutant is known for his pinch-hitting. The youngster will be playing to impress as the auction for Pakistan’s domestic t20 league will start soon. Many players Like Faf du Plessis will be a part of the roster, and this debutant will chase the spot in one of these franchises.
On the other hand, Zimbabwe will look to play for self-pride, and they are also bringing in a new fast bowler. Experienced pacer Donald Tiripano will replace Mumba in the squad. Maybe that’s why the Zimbabwe team has decided to bat first to put pressure of scoreboard on Pakistan. They have put up a respectable total of 250 runs in the first innings and will look to save themselves from a clean sweep. If Pakistan wins this would be their 9th win in a row in one-day international matches.
