It might have been years since the release of 101 Dalmatians, yet that designer villain, with her two-toned hair and a daring smile, is hard to miss. Now, as Disney slowly moves its gaze from animation to live-action, we are finally getting an insight into the life of the ever-famous- Cruella De Vil. This is not the first time that Disney has taken up the backstory of a Disney villain. With Angelina Jolie’s famous Maleficent putting a new spin on the story of Sleeping Beauty, it was only a matter of time before we saw the past and stories of other villains.
Stated to be a prequel to 101 Dalmatians, Cruella will follow the life of Estella, a young woman with the aspiration of becoming a fashion designer. However, with drastic events in her life, things will slowly change her into a woman way different than she had started out. Emma Stone, who is playing the character of Cruella De Vil, puts a unique spin with a flair of psychopathic tendencies, much like the famous DC character Joker.

Cruella De Vil is a fictional character created by Dodie Smith. She has been known to express vanity, along with greed and pure evil. In Disney’s different productions of 101 Dalmations, Cruella is present as the ever-present villain.
This rich woman has been known to be an heiress at times and a famous fashion designer. Cruella’s signature look is that of black and white hair and bold lipsticks. She has been obsessed with furs. As a result, in all the rendition, she kidnaps 97 or 99 Dalmatian puppies in order to skin them and make a fur coat of their skin. It is revealed that the reason she targets puppies is that old dogs’ fur is coarse and does not have the same soft feeling.
Stone’s Cruella starts out as a redhead. She declares that others think of her as a psychopath, but she is not everyone’s tastes. Stone sports the same famous look, along with smokey eyes.

Cruella is set to release in May 2021. In the United States, the date of release is 28th May. It will be released theatrically, though, at a later date, Disney might release it on the OTT platform Disney+

Emma Stone is the one playing the titular character Cruella, previously known as Estella. Emma Thompson will play the part of Baroness von Hellman, the fashion icon will eventually hire Stone’s character. Joel Fry and Paul Walter Hauser will be the two thieves who join hands with Cruella in her wicked endeavours.
Glenn Close, who played the role on Cruella is Disney’s live–action adaption of 101 and 102 Dalmations, the sequels for ‘Cruella, is an executive producer for the movie.
Plot: Cruella
Cruella takes place is in the 1970s, in the city of London. Estella, the protagonist, is a newcomer in the fashion industry and wants to make a big name in the designer industry. Estella is not everyone’s taste and she is quite well with the fact. Early on, she is spotted by Baroness von Hellman who is a legend in the industry. Hellman soon employees her while Estella, along with the two thieves, is getting up to mischief. Soon, events transpire thank make her accept and revel in her wicked side, being Cruella.
Storyline: Cruella
The last we saw of Cruella in 102 Dalmatians, she was released from jail after being caught for animal cruelty in 101 Dalmatians. She was apparently cured for her want to make furs out of Dalmation puppies, but after hearing a loud voice, she reverts back to her previous persona. Though she was released on probation, with the prerequisite that shall she go back to her old ways, she will have to pay all her fortune to an animal shelter.
Over the course of the movie, the Dalmations and Cruella have a cat and mouse chase. In the end, The puppies win and Cruella, along with her partner in crime, furrier Jean Pierre LePelt, are arrested and thrown back into jail.
