There may or may not be any X-Men in the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series, but The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s showrunner has indicated that a major comic book cameo is on the way. We’ll meet a “grounded” familiar Marvel character played by a “well-known performer” in Episode 5 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. What does this mean? There might be spoilers for Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 5 ahead.
Hoai-Tran Bui of Slashfilm states that The Falcon And The Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman recently teased a major character cameo and that Slashfilm has independently discovered that the cameo “isn’t one we’ve seen in the MCU before and isn’t one who is primed to appear in an upcoming film.” However, we’ve discovered that it’s a real-life Marvel Comics character played by a well-known actor.
Spellman said the character in question was “grounded” in a separate interview, which, coupled with the Slashfilm scoop, may mean we’re dealing with someone who doesn’t have superpowers. It’s also likely that whoever this person is isn’t a part of the Avengers. That isn’t to say they don’t have ties to superheroes or mutants; it just means they aren’t a superhero… yet.
Since the mention of “the aerospace engineer” in WandaVision, fans have speculated that it might be Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four. Doctor Doom may also be lurking in the world of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, what with all the grim, brainwashing stuff.
It’s probably not a good idea to bet on superhero and supervillain cameos right now, but don’t blame us if a pre-iron mask Doctor Doom appears in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier episode 5.
