Mdou Moctar the famous musician and songwriter recently launched his new music album entitles Afrique Victim. The song is released under the production of Matador Records.
Mdou’s original name is Mahamadou Souleymane. He comes from the country The Republic of Niger. He is famous for adopting a new and updated version of Tuareg guitar music.
In most of his songs, he tried to cultivate a cry for freedom. His songs also promote women’s liberation, Taureg culture, and appreciation of the natural world and the desert landscape.
Mdou’s latest released song is associated with the life of African people as what they are suffering and what will be the upcoming causes. He sings resistance songs that can create awareness in people about their freedom and tends to make social changes in them.
The song Afrique Victim also opens with his old friendly Hendrix-style lead guitar. He sings the song with his bold and incomparable vocals. Then it launches into a full rock band groove. It is an ascending melody, which consists of electric guitar. The soft-touch of the love song Tala Tannam uses complex and delicate acoustic lead guitar and massed voices to create a sense of peace.
On talking with a news channel he claimed that “We’re suffering because we’re colonized by France which hasn’t given us freedom. On paper, we have our freedom but in reality, we aren’t free. French colonialism has just taken the model and modernized it, in the same way, that if you take a car manufacturer, Toyota for example, the Toyota from 1980 is not the same as in 2020, but it’s still Toyota. And it’s the same thing with colonialization. We’ve been colonized since the French descended on our territory and we got independence in 1960 on paper but it’s still France in charge. France is exploiting us for our [uranium] mines while 95 percent of people in Niger don’t have electricity. And yet we have so much uranium! That’s why I gave the album the name Afrique Victime.”
He released his first music album titling Anar in 2008. His earlier songs became famous with help of cracky cell phone music networks. His early life in the music industry was a bit interesting. As there was no active music platform in the African region where he lived. His music got viral with the help of cellphone music networks. These networks are the primetime source of music and that area.
The music of the singer reached a global audience and gained huge popularity. The Sahel Sounds released his first song in their album Music from Saharan Cellphones: Volume 1 compilation. Mdou has starred in the first Tuareg language film. The film was based on music and plotted the story of a musician struggling with his personal and musical life. It was entitled Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai
