The Duchess of Sussex recently joined NPR Weekend Show to give an interview about her debut children’s book “The Bench“. Initially, “The Bench” was a poem written by the Duchess for her husband Prince Harry, right after the birth of their first child- Archie Mountbatten Windsor. The poem was written as a sentimental gift for the prince’s first Father’s Day in the year 2019. Now, the poem has been converted into a children’s book “The Bench“, which is currently the #1 New York Times Bestselling Picture Book.

In the interview, Markle started on how she celebrated her husband’s first fathers day back in the year 2019. She shared that apart from the poem “The Bench“, she also got her husband the real present on his first father’s day. The Duchess of Sussex gifted her husband a real wooden Bench!
“As most of us do, you go, what am I going to get them as a gift?” Meghan said in the interview. Further, she said that she wanted to gift him something sentimental. Also, a place to sit with our son would feel just like home. Thus, here we go, that’s a “Bench” for Prince Harry!
The Duchess of Sussex continued by calling her poem “A Love Story”. Markle talked about the pure love that marks the background of her inspiration to write the poem. She talked about the moments when she used to watch her husband rock baby Archie to sleep or carry or play with him. Those live experiences of “pure love” moments inspired Markle to write the poem. Later, she also concluded, “I really hope that people can see this as a love story that transcends the story of my family.”
Further, the Duchess also talked about her new and debut children’s book ” The Bench“. She said that she wrote this book, illustrated them for everyone. It’s like any child or any family would relate to the book and the feelings stored in it. She said that the book doesn’t just represent the royal family but any family could see themselves in the story.
