Singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani and country singer-television personality Blake Shelton took the world by storm when they revealed that they had gotten married in a tight-knit ceremony on the 3rd of July at Shelton’s ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. 2 weeks after the ceremony happened, Stefani shared an unseen photo from her wedding which was a classic black and white candid shot where they were seen standing on the aisle and looking at TODAY’s Carson Daly, who officiated the wedding. From acquaintances to partners for life
The couple was first introduced to each other as voice coaches on the popular NBC singing competition-“The Voice”. Sources have said that during the first season of the show, the two were barely friends with each other. When Stefani ended her 13-year marriage with Bush lead singer Gavin Rossdale and Shelton ended his marriage with country singer Miranda Lambert, both in 2015, both found comfort from each other which eventually led to an unexpected and budding romance. Rumors of their marriage were first sparked when the Hollaback Girl singer was seen wearing a diamond band in her left hand and when sources talked about a chapel built by Shelton in the backyard of his Oklahoman ranch for the purpose of the wedding ceremony.
A ceremony exclusively for the inner circle
According to People, the ceremony was attended by 40 close members of the family and friend circle including Stefani’s children whom she shares with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale. The reason for keeping the wedding so small was that they only wanted people who truly cared about them to be a part of their dream day. The couple is very family-oriented and they always keep their families first. The explanation for the wedding being so tight-knit stems from this fact. To escape from their boisterous lives in Los Angeles, the Oklahoman home where Gwen and Blake had moved together became a place for her and her kids to seek tranquility. It was, thus, a seemingly perfect place to hold the ceremony and exchange vows.
Stefani rocked two custom Vera-Wang gowns in her wedding-one for the official ceremony and another for the reception. The veil was embroidered with the name of her three children- Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo-and the name of Blake Shelton. Following the wedding ceremony, the reception took place in the same ranch where the newly-weds cut a five-tier cake and danced the night away with a playlist by DJ Lucy Wrubel which also included hits from some of their friends including Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan. A closer circle headed to Shelton’s second home where the celebrations continued with a firework show to mark the end of that beautiful day.
What makes their relationship seem almost perfect and dreamlike is the fact that Blake also shares an extremely good relationship with Gwen’s three children who are 15, 12, and 7 years old. Some sources have mentioned that as the Oklahoman country singer’s relationship with California’s very own rock star grew, the impact was also considerably prevalent in his bond with her children.
