Fans Are Not Happy As Die Hard 6 Gets Canceled – Everything To Know

The sixth installment of the movie Die Hard which was set to be a prequel is officially not happening anymore according to the Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. In the recent interview with Polygon when di Bonaventura was present for the GI Joe movie Snake eyes, he was asked about the prequel of the movie, he said, “Yeah, no, it’s not happening, But what was really interesting was we actually came up with an idea to do it. It was a project that wasn’t Die Hard  that then, eventually, shifted over to Die Hard.”

The possibility of a sixth film getting released was always there since the 2013 movie of the series came out which was the fifth film names, “A good day to Die Hard”. The film which was announced back in 2015 by The Fox would cast Bruce Willis as John McClane once again who has been playing the role since 1988. The movie was about to give the viewers of the franchise an insight into McClane’s past. di Bonaventura said the best part about this idea was that the viewers would be able to get to meet a young John McClane that too played by Bruce Willis. Bonaventura claims “So it was really interesting in that way. So you sort of got to see both versions of him. A bit [like The Godfather Part 2].”

After the release of the fifth movie fans always speculated for the release of the sixth one continuing the series despite the fact that Bruce Willis has previously wished to stop playing the role of John McClane that he has been doing so since the start of the franchise in 1988. There were numerous versions of the films that were stated that could be released but none of them actually came into action but the plan for the prequel film still did remain alive as the version of di Bonaventura turned some heads at the 20th Century Fox but it wasn’t enough. According to the speculations, the movie would have starred the current day Bruce Willis as John McClane while another actor would be filling in the role of young McClane. The project that never came to life was also set to introduce Mary Elizabeth Winstead who played McClane’s ex-wife Holly previously as the role of her daughter Lucy this time around.

The main reason which has been expected of why the movie couldn’t come to life was because of Disney’s acquisition of the Fox Studios. Disney acquired Fox and also rebranded the name to 20th Century Studios. At Disney were at some point there were rumors of a John McClane series to be released but the idea also seems pretty dead now. Though some fans still have hope as Die Hard no doubt is one of the best and well-established franchises of all time so there is hope that Disney might try bringing Willis back so that the fans can get to enjoy more of his action. The fans of the series are hopeful that the McClane would still remain active and the plans are only stalled for the time being and not canceled.
