Dave Chappelle is an American actor and stand-up comedian. he is also a writer as well as producer. He has won a number of awards throughout his career.
Recently, the star is under flames for the controversy going on about his comments on the community of transgenders. In his sixth stand-up show, Dave shared about his friendship with Daphne Dorman, who is a trans woman. She was also a comedian. Daphne Dorman was from San Francisco and died in the year 2019. She had done suicide.
There have controversial comments on social media about the comments he made on the trans community and shared things about the translady. Though the family of the woman has spoken in defense. According to the sources, Daphne Dorman’s sister, Becky had stated that Daphne always admired Dave and was awe of Dave’s graciousness. She never finds him rude. She really thought that his jokes were funny, she never find them off-putting, and neither she was offended. According to Becky, Daphne understood the humor and comedy of the star. And so she stated that there is no reason for their family to get offended.
Indeed, Dorman’s sister also speaks up on the issue saying that she agrees with Darphen’s sister. According to her, her brother is an ally of the LGBTQIO+ community.
Moreover, speaking about Chappelle’s comments in The Closer, he has raised up some points. He spoke about the earlier controversy stating that how injustice it was for the author of the famous Harry Potter series JK Rowling to be canceled. Rowling tweeted a number of paragraphs explaining how she feels that biological sex is real. And that men cannot turn into women. This started a rage in the trans community. They started calling her TERF (Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist).
Chappelle backed her up saying that this was an injustice to her. He also stated that he is a team TERF. Dave also stated that he never had a problem with transgender people. And that he is not saying the trans women are not women. He added to his statement that he strongly agrees that gender is a fact. Every person on this earth has to pass from the legs of a woman, he said. Every person on this earth has been birthed by a woman and that’s a fact, nobody can change that on earth.
Dorman had spent a lot of time for The Closer. Dave has mentioned that had set up a trust fund for the daughter of Dorman. And concluded by saying that Dorman was a hell of a woman.
There have been a lot of negative reviews on the episode and many negative comments. Indeed, David Johns who is the executive director of The National Black Justice Coalition has stated that Netflix is the largest streaming platform should have known better. They shouldn’t allow anyone to comment like this. It was disappointing to see Netflix allowing such content on its platform.
Furthermore, David Johns also demands to Netflix to remove this special episode from its platform.
