We all know that Henry Cavill did great honor to the part of Superman, whether it was in Man of Steel or Batman v Superman, proving himself as a true superman, but what went wrong since we haven’t had any sequels or new DC superhero collaborations?
Henry Cavill In DCEU
Henry Cavill has been immensely positive about his future as the Man of Steel, although his actual position in the DCEU is unclear. The British actor first had the chance to portray the superhero godfather in 2013’s Man of Steel, a job he won after beating out stars like Joe Manganiello and Matthew Goode. Man of Steel received a tepid response from reviewers and moviegoers, but it fared well enough to secure two sequels: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 and Justice League in 2017.
There was no hint of what Warner Bros. had planned for the character of Superman for a long following the release of the theatrical version of Justice League.
Is Warner Bros. Trying To Replace Henry Cavill As Superman?
Aside from the complaints leveled against Snyder’s portrayal of Superman’s moral compass, the films themselves did not provide Cavill with much to work with as an actor. While he isn’t exactly a chameleon actor, Henry Cavill is a strong performer who can play stoic action heroes like Geralt of Rivia. His Superman portrayal feels forceful and strong as if he could genuinely lead a bunch of heroes like the Justice League, and his body is possibly the most authentic of any actor to play Superman. The main issue is that his character isn’t given much to do in the flicks.
Justice League was supposed to redefine Superman’s depiction in previous films, however, Zack Snyder sadly stepped aside from the production in May of 2017 due to a personal family tragedy. As a result, Warner Bros. hired Avengers filmmaker Joss Whedon to complete the production in an uncredited role, drastically altering the tone and various subplots. As a result, Superman’s character development from Man of Steel to the theatrical cut of Justice League felt disconnected and broken, and Cavill’s Superman was marginalized in the DCEU as a result of the film’s critical and commercial disaster.
Is Henry Cavil Back As Superman
Cavill then makes passing reference to Zack Snyder’s plans for a Justice League Sequel, one that would have seen The Last Son of Krypton be corrupted by Darkseid’s Anti-Life Equation. For Cavill, there’s room for one more story to tell before then. Henry Cavill has expressed his willingness to reprise his role as Superman – and he’s open to exploring the lighter side of the Man of Steel. In an interview with GQ, Cavill described his vision of the legendary DC superhero’s journey thus far, as well as where he wants it to go next.
As per the sources, it looks like Warner Bros. is developing a new Superman film set in its world, with a Black protagonist at its center. There is no director attached, but J.J. Abrams is producing and Ta-Nehisi Coates is writing the script. So, yep, the badass is back with another Superman film, however, there is no information on the film’s completion or release date, but he is back.
