Susan Sarandon roped in to play the main Antagonist, Victoria Kord in DC Blue Beetle movie

Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon is all set to act as Victoria Kord in the upcoming Blue Beetle adaptation. DC Films’ first superhero movie starring a Latino character, TheWrap has exclusively learned. Victoria Kord is a new character created for the movie. Sarandon will play the role in her first leading role in a superhero movie. Production is set to begin next month in Toronto. “Blue Beetle” is the story of high school student Jaime Reyes, who finds himself imbued with a magical suit that grants him the ability to morph into an indestructible suit of armor. The suit comes to be known as “Blue Beetle,” and it is an alter ego that is integral to his growth as a hero.

Sharon Stone was previously in talks for the role. At the time, it was reported that she had multiple offers on the table and was in talks with the production team behind the film. There was no mention of the role going to a different actress at the time. However, on January 23rd, it was announced that Rebecca Hall had been cast in the film. The role of Ava originated in the novel by Marie Lu, who is also set to executive produce the film. Sarandon joins a cast which includes Xolo Maridueña, George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, Belissa Escobedo, Bruna Marquezine and Harvey Guillén. Additionally, Raoul Max Trujillo (“Mayans M.C.”) will play Carapax the Indestructible Man.“Blue Beetle” is set to be released theatrically on Aug. 18, 2023.

What Will Blue Bettle Be About?

The film will explore the tensions between the Hispanic community and those in the Anglo-dominated world, as well as the role of the Mexican criminal gang. This will be the first narrative feature film shot entirely in Mexico, shot in Los Angeles. The film will be produced by David Guggenheim. It is an origin story that focuses on an 18-year-old high school student named Jaime Reyes, who in a freak accident is imbued with the powers of a blue beetle. He soon discovers his abilities are greater than he ever imagined, and he must use them to protect his city from a group of criminals calling themselves the Technos.

Origin Of Blue Bettle

Created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner in 2006, Jaime Reyes was introduced during the “Infinite Crisis” crossover event ahead of the launch of a new “Blue Beetle” in May 2006. Reyes is a working-class El Paso teenager devoted to his family and with no connections to superheroes prior to receiving his powers. After a pair of gunmen kill his parents, Reyes discovers he possesses the “power of flight,” allowing him to leap great distances with the use of special wings he has developed. Reyes initially uses his abilities to aid his father, a police officer, but after he is injured on the job, Reyes seeks out his former high school bully, Ted Kord, a.k.a. “Blue Beetle,” to help him learn how to use his powers responsibly. Kord trains Reyes in the use of his powers, and the two develop a close relationship over the course of their partnership, with Kord often acting as a father figure to Reyes.

Release Date Of Blue Bettle

Blue Beetle will hit theaters on August 18, 2023. The first trailer is expected to drop this week. This will be the second DC film to hit theaters in the year 2023.
