Shazam! Fury of the Gods is an upcoming American superhero film that is based on the DC Comics character Shazam. Produced by New Line Cinema, DC Films and the Safran Company, and Mad Ghost Productions, and is set for distribution by Warner Bros Pictures, it is intended to be the sequel to Shazam! (2019). It is directed by David F. Sandberg from a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan. The footage begins with Shazam (Zachary Levi) at a fancy restaurant in Paris. His date is Wonder Woman, though her face is out of frame. Shazam goes for a kiss, which Wonder Woman does not reciprocate. She gets up to leave the table, turning her back on Shazam, but the hero tries to smooth things over. As he leans in, Wonder Woman turns around. Apart from the glimpse of Gal Gadot, we will also see a bit of reference from the film Fast and Furious into the film. In another scene we find Billy (Asher Angel) chatting with the character of Helen Mirren, to whom he says he has seen all the films Fast & Furious. The boy says that saving the world is about family, a mantra coined by Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto, which is making this film filled with extra humor and even entertainment. Fans are super excited for the film to watch and explore the story behind all these references.
The Film Shazam follows the story of young Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who received the ability to transform into an adult superhero, all by saying the titular “Shazam!” While the first film was primarily devoted to setting up Billy’s new life as Shazam and introducing enemies, the sequel will have a chance to explore that film even further, with Billy facing new and greater threats as he learns and grows as a superhero and faces challenges and threats while saving the world from the enemies. The film Shazam! Fury of the God was supposed to be released on June 2, 2023, but was recently brought forward to December 16, 2022, thereby will hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
