Black Bird is an American crime drama series that is developed by Dennis Lehane and is based on the 2010 autobiographical novel “In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption” by James Keene. The series is basically based on the story of a drug dealer who has to aid a serial killer in jail and also get a confession from him in order to buy his own freedom. The trailer basically introduced us to Jimmy Kenne who is a high school football hero and is also the son of a cop. He is shockingly sent to ten years in prison after being accused of drug dealing. Spending ten years in prison is a way more long period for Jimmy due to which he reaches out to his dad and basically asks if there is anything that he can do to release him from his imprisonment. But unfortunately, the deal which he gets is a dangerous one. The first one is, that Jimmy needs to be transferred to a maximum-security facility specializing in the criminally insane. The second is, that he needs to befriend a serial killer Larry Hall, in order to find out where the Killer hides the bodies of 13 young women the killer had killed. And in the eagerness of getting out of jail, Jimmy agrees to get these tasks done and therefore acts as an informant for the FBI.

Inspired by actual events, when high school football hero, decorated policeman’s son, and convicted drug dealer Jimmy Keene (Taron Egerton) is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum-security prison, he is given the choice of a lifetime — enter a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane and befriend suspected serial killer Larry Hall (Paul Walter Hauser), or stay where he is and serve his full sentence with no possibility of parole. Keene quickly realizes his only way out is to elicit a confession and find out where the bodies of several young girls are buried before Hall’s appeal goes through. But is this suspected killer telling the truth? Or is it just another tale from a serial liar? This dramatic and captivating story subverts the crime genre by enlisting the help of the very people put behind bars to solve its mysteries.
