After all the successful seasons of Black Lagoon, fans have been waiting eagerly for Black Lagoon Season 4. It has now been a while since the makers have released any detail regarding the fourth season of the series since the series arrived with its third season. Let us take a look at this article to find out about the status of season 4 of the anime series.
What’s the Black Lagoon anime series all about?
Black Lagoon is a Japanese manga series that is written and illustrated by Rei Hiroe. It has also been published in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Monthly Sunday Gene-X since April 2022. The chapters of the manga have been collected in Twelve Tankobon volumes as of August 2021.
The manga has been adapted by Madhouse Studios and these anime series have been directed by Sunao Katabuchi in the mid-2000s.
The anime series follows the story of the Lagoon Company, a four-member team of pirate mercenaries who smuggle goods in and around the seas of Southeast Asia. This pirate mercenaries group is called Black Lagoon, and in this way, the group takes on various criminal activities involving dealing with criminal organizations and with violent gunfights, etc. The story, therefore, follows the life of Rokurou Okajima, an average Japanese businessman who chooses to join Black Lagoon while getting abandoned by his company and in this way, he began his journey in this new and dangerous life with the Black Lagoon group.
The anime series till its season 3 has received major love from the fans with critics also praising the anime series for its storyline and plot.
Black Lagoon Season 4: Is it renewed or canceled?
According to official sources, the chances for the renewal of Black Lagoon Season 4 are very much low and a little high at the same time. Since, Black Lagoon is been one of the most popular anime series to date with its three seasons, Madhouse studios if somehow they continue this anime series with another season might get a profit for its another enriching season.
But as per reports, there are some problems with the continuation of Black Lagoon Season 4 which is the source material. Since Rei Hiroe has only published 12 volumes since 2002, some chapters have not been compiled into a book yet, which becomes a reason that is the lack of manga.
Since the first three seasons had already covered almost most of the content of the manga series which proves a point that the lack of content may affect the production of the Season 4 of the series.
Also, since the makers have not stated anything and have also not come up officially with any statement regarding Black Lagoon Season 4, we can therefore guess the possibility that the renewal of season 4 becomes a little difficult this time.
Black Lagoon Season 4 Release date
Well, till now nothing has been officially confirmed by the official makers of the series regarding the possible renewal of Black Lagoon Season 4. Season 3 of the anime series was last released in 2013, and it has been a decade since the last season was released and nothing has been stated by the makers regarding the next season due to which to expect a release date for the next season is a little tough to imagine since no announcement has been shared by the makers of whether the season 4 would be renewed or not?
Also, the main problem for the makers till now has been not having enough source material. The first three seasons have already covered 9 out of 11 released volumes of the manga, which means that there are not enough volumes for the Studio for Black Lagoon Season 4.

Black Lagoon has been one of the most popular anime series of all time, it is also one of the excellent series in its genre. But since the arrival of season three of Black Lagoon, which was released way back in 2013, fans have been curiously waiting for Black Lagoon Season 4.
Since there is not enough source material, it thus becomes a little tough for the season fourth of the series. But if somehow, the possibility for the renewal of Black Lagoon Season 4 becomes higher, then it would be more than good news for the fans.
