What is the Fruits Basket anime series all about?

Fruits Basket is a Japanese manga series that is written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. The manga was serialized in the semi-monthly Japanese shojo manga magazine Hana to Yume published by Hakusensha from 1998 to 2006.

Fruits Basket revolves around the kind and compassionate Tooru Honda who forms various types of emotional bonds with the members of the affluent Sohma family. Over the course of time, she realizes that 13 members of the Sohma family are possessed by the zodiac curse, which turned them into one of the Chinese zodiac animals whenever they are emotional, agitated, or hugged by the members of the opposite sex. The curse thereby also binds them to the heads of the Sohma family, Akito who performs the role of Jade Emperor to the zodiacs. Tooru accepts the Sohmas with who they are and also works in order to break the curse and free the Sohma family from their suffering. Since, when she learns about the hardships and pains faced by the family, she helps heal their emotional wounds.

The manga has so far had over 30 million copies in circulation, which makes it one of the best-selling manga series of all time, with fans and critics praising the manga for its storyline and character development.

Will Fruits Basket Season 4 get renewed or is it canceled?

As of now, there has been no news regarding whether Fruits Basket Season 4 would get renewed or not, with this there is some buzzing news which is circulating around the towns that season 4 of the series might not be renewed.

The third season of the series was a huge success and was quite emotional and satisfying with many of the viewers classifying the third season as one of the best seasons of the series. but since the story was completed and ended with a proper conclusion in season 3 of the series, it looks like there won’t be a Fruits Basket Season 4, since the makers have completed the story with season 3, due to which there is very less chance for season 4 of the anime series.

The manga series was published between July 19, 1998, and November 20, 2006, and consists of 23 volumes in total. The manga which is the source material of the series is no longer ongoing because the entire source material has been used in the three seasons which puts zero hopes for the fourth season of the series.

Apart from the Fruits Basket anime series, the makers had also released Movies in relation to Fruits Basket. The makers on June 28, 2021, announced a new anime film project which focused on Tohru’s parents Kyokoand Katsuya. The movie, therefore, was released in Japan on February 18, 2022.

The film which was released back on February 18, 2022, also managed to make millions at the box office, with this it also received a greater amount of appreciation and positivity among fans.

However, if the makers of the Fruits Basket somehow decide to renew the series then it is very much proven that it will be much greater news among fans, considering the popularity that this anime series has generated so far.
