What’s the Tokyo Ghoul anime series all about?
Tokyo Ghoul is a Japanese dark fantasy manga series that is written and illustrated by Sui Ishida. The manga was also serialized in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump between September 2011 and September 2014 and was also collected in fourteen tankobon volumes. A 12-episode television anime series adaptation by Pierrot Studios was done which released a total of four seasons of the anime series from 2014 to 2018.
Talking about the story the anime series follows the life of Ken Kaneki, a college student who gets involved in a deadly encounter with Rize Kamishiro, his date who reveals herself as a ghoul. After being taken to the hospital in a critical condition ken discovers that he has undergone surgery that transformed him into a half-ghoul, this happened because Rize organs were transferred into his body, due to which he is now like a normal ghoul who has to eat human flesh to survive. He is also being taught by the other ghoul to showcase how to deal with his new half-ghoul life. And through this, the series goes on to capture the whole adventure of Ken as he fits into his life as a half-ghoul.
Will Tokyo Ghoul Season 5 happen or not?
Well, as per official sources, it is being said that Season 4 of the series is so far the last season of the series due to which there would not be any further seasons. Since the makers of the series have almost finished the manga with season 4, enough source material for the further seasons wouldn’t be available which proves the point that why makers are not considering Tokyo Ghoul Season 5.
Since there is no additional material to adapt and with this the anime is also finished therefore we wouldn’t be seeing furthermore seasons of the anime series. Although, things can change in the future, till now since nothing possibly has been confirmed by the makers regarding the fifth season therefore we can consider the possibility of Tokyo Ghoul Season 5 not happening.
Tokyo Ghoul Season 5 Release date
As per reports, since the chances for Tokyo Ghoul Season 5 is very much slim, we can thus say that a fifth season might not be happening since there is no additional material for the fifth season of the series and with this also there is no official release date of the season 5 of the series.
Since there are also no indications regarding whether Tokyo Ghoul Season 5 would continue or not, we can thus say that fans have to either wait for some official news or assure themselves with the bad news that season 5 would not be happening.
If we talk about the release date for the previous seasons of the franchise, Season 1 of the anime series was released on July 4, 2014, and ended on September 19, 2014, with this the second and the third seasons titled “Tokyo Ghoul √A” and “Tokyo Ghoul: re (I)” with season 2 arriving on January 9, 2015, and season 3 on April 3, 2018. The fourth season titled ‘Tokyo Ghoul: re (II)” also arrived on October 9, 2018.
The Expected Plot of the upcoming season
Since the possibility of Tokyo Ghoul Season 5 happening is very much less as we stated in the earlier sections that the makers did not have enough additional material to cover up for the fifth season, therefore season 5 plot of the anime series is unknown since it would have to adopt a new story written by Ishida and there is no such new story as of now.
Since there are no more manga stories to adapt for Tokyo Ghoul Season 5, it is likely that if somehow the fifth season happens then the makers have to develop and create an entirely new story for further seasons.
However, Tokyo Ghoul was among the most watched and much-loved anime series of all time, since no further clarification is made by the official team makers of the series, fans can guess the unexpectedness that is no more further seasons.
