Hip Hop Artist SKG talks Sundance film festival, Idris Elba, Miguel Nunez Jr., and Kevin Hart
Sundance began in Salt Lake City in August 1978 as the Utah/US Film Festival in an effort to attract more filmmakers to Utah.
Film makers from all across the world travel to attend the festivities each year, including artist and film producer, SKG.
SKG, also known as Helecia Choyce is a pop-cultural jack-of-all trades. Growing up in the music industry and having a passion to create at a young age. Rapper SKG, passion for film producing began early in her career. Teaching herself the in’s and out’s of the film industry and learning from her business partner and mentor, actor Miguel Nunez Jr. who’s career has spanned over 40 years in the film industry.
“I’ve been blessed to meet and work with phenomenal people that’s helped shift the culture of film producing and acting, like Miguel Nunez Jr., Kevin Hart and William L. Johnson.
One person I was honored to meet was Idris Elba, when I attended the Sundance Film Festival”.
Attending the Sundance film festival a few years back, SKG was lucky to sit in on a private screening of Idris Elba film, Yardie and be formally introduced to the director / actor.
“I remember being like a kid in the candy shop, I was filled with so much excitement. This festival has been around 20 years, it’s an honor to be in the presence of so many legendary film makers and actors,” SKG said in a recent interview with Celeb Mag.
Last year, SKG worked with Kevin Hart on a Christmas commercial as Director’s Assistant. Having a credit from Hartbeat productions is a step up the ladder for SKG.
Focusing on the future, SKG has already distributed over thirty five films on streaming platforms, helping other film makers bring in over seven figures.
SKG is aiming to making herself a household name by producing films and hoping to one day portray a number of iconic characters in front of the camera.
