Mr. FoW Drops Soul Boi III Reminding Us Timeless Music is Still Out There
These days, music’s often all about catchy hooks and going viral. Finding an artist who truly cares about the craft feels impossible. That’s where artists like Mr. FoW truly shine. He’s a neo-contemporary hip-hop and R&B artist who believes in quality over quantity every time. And his new LP, Soul Boi III is a testament to how Mr. FoW’s music connects with our soul.
When asked about the importance of good music in today’s world, Mr. FoW says, “A song can be popular for a bit, but it’s the music that sticks around that counts,” he says. “I want people to return to my work, not just hear it once and move on.” This mindset pushes him to put everything into each project. Every track is carefully crafted, and every note has meaning.
Making timeless music takes more than just talent. It takes hard work. “There’s no easy way to make great music,” he says. “You gotta put in the time, refine your sound, try things, mess up, then get back up and try again. It’s a journey, and it’s tough, but that’s what makes the final product so worth it.” You can hear that dedication in Soul Boi III.
Made at his go-to Houston studio, Mission Control, and polished by Chief Aleel, he dropped “Soul Boi III” on July 13th, Houston’s 713 day, showing his growth as an artist and in honor of the city that raised him. “I think we released it at just the right time. This LP speaks to the current moment, offering comfort and inspiration in tough times,” says Mr. FoW. The LP is a team effort. Duchess lends her vocals to the track “mDNA,” showing Mr. FoW’s support for up-and-coming artists
“I remember growing up in the grit of Alief, right on Bissonet, and not knowing where my life was headed and who I would become,” Mr. FoW shares, “My next body of work and album will really take listeners down memory lane on where I come from. I’m a trailblazer without survivors remorse.”
Soul Boi III also includes tracks like “BushioHOVa” and “PrecIOUs” that haven’t been heard before, giving fans a peek into his creative range.
“I don’t hide music from da members. What I have is what I have when I release. There’s no secret vault. I am not in the studio 24/7. Music is a spiritual calling for me, not a 9 to 5.”
Connecting with people through his music? That’s huge for Mr. FoW. He sees music as more than just beats and lyrics—it’s about creating a feeling that the listener truly gets. “When you connect through song, it’s like having a conversation,” he explains. “You’re sharing a part of yourself, and they’re sharing back.” This connection drives him to make music that’s not just catchy but also has meaning. “I want people to feel something when they listen, whether it’s joy, sadness, nostalgia, or hope. That’s the power of music—it can bring up emotions and memories like nothing else.”
In today’s music world, finding your own sound is key. Mr. FoW tells aspiring artists to be themselves. Let your true self come through in your music. “Don’t chase trends or try to please everyone,” he says. “Focus on making music you love, music that speaks to you.” At its core, music is about connection. Mr. FoW builds that bond by sharing his own experiences and feelings through his songs. He actively connects with his fans, building a community called “Da members” around his music. He wants his fans to be part of his creative journey.
Looking ahead to his full album in 2025, Mr. FoW is more focused than ever on staying true to himself and making music that means something. “Soul Boi III is just the start,” he says with a grin.
In the end, Mr. FoW’s message is simple: good music isn’t just about hits – it’s about creating something real. In a world that often wants everything right now, his dedication to his craft reminds us that some things are worth waiting for. So, when you listen to Soul Boi III, take a moment to appreciate the effort, the passion, and the realness that went into it. Because as Mr. FoW himself says, “Real music lasts.”
