What is your name and what city do you rep?
Artist name is Cadillac Moses, real name is Beseja Bakari Moses & I represent San Antonio, Texas
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
Latest release is called “Pedal To The Medal”. I was inspired to create this song by the current situation going on in my life. Felt like giving up on my passion which is making Cadillac music, but I made a vow to put the pedal to the metal and keep pushing. I’m still in-love with the game (My Passion) and can’t give up on my dreams.
What is unique about you and your music?
I am unique because I refuse to do what everyone else is doing. I refuse to follow the crowd. We set our own trends and innovate our own styles. Also, we own ourselves and we only make conscious positive purposeful music.
What shaped your music?
Living life in general shapes the music. The ups and downs in life, and the fight to keep my head above water is what shapes my music.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I realized I would make music professionally when I saw the look on the kids faces and how I motivated them to do better in life, just from listening to the music that I make. My music is positive and motivating.
What type of music do you listen to?
I listen to old-school music! That ignites my creativity. 60s, 70s, 90s R&B & Hip Hop, and Jazz
What inspires you to write music?
The Most High is my only inspiration. Without my creator, I am nothing. All my gifts and abilities are limited without submitting to him.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
When I’m not making music I’m taking care of my family. Raising my kids and grinding to put food on the table. This business is expensive to maintain.
Happiness to you is…
Happiness to me is the ability to wake up in the morning and live a healthy peaceful life. Many people I grew up around didn’t make it as far as 21 years old. I’m happy to be alive and healthy. Peace of mind is the best form of happiness.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
I should have been told that the music business isn’t for everyone. It doesn’t matter how talented you are. The business is full of vultures and snakes, and people will go past the limit to stay on top. To stay humble and own myself. It’s a marathon race for a reason…Take your time…
